"Want some more cho-cate bud-dy?"
Those are the words I hear as I am entering the room where I left the children to play, while I went to the bathroom. Ever heard words like that or something similar?
I walked into the room to see my 3 1/2 year old squeezing chocolate from a bottle in the mouth of my 2 year old. I scream the older child's name without thinking and chocolate syrup flies everywhere!
Or how about the time when I was on the phone with a long distant friend and my then 2 year old son decides to sprinkle, better yet, douse everything in the living room with garlic salt!
Then there was the time when my oldest came into the room where I was working on the computer looking like the ghost Casper. He had decided he wanted some lotion like Daddy uses and rubbed diaper rash ointment all over his body. Needless to say he didn't have any rashes for a while.
When we get busy, it is easy for our children to see that and get into mischief. Sometimes it can be helped, other times it just happens.
The important thing is to laugh it off and learn from it. Could I have been more focused? Sure....but then so could all of us at one point or another.
My kids are a older now 10 and 12, and every now and then I hear them whispering to each other from another room. The words "Want some more cho-cate bud-dy?" plays back in my mind and I get up to see what mischief they are into now.
